Burgas airport welcomes passenger number 2 million for 2017, who has landed with a flight from Dublin. The honorary passenger this year is a lady. She is called Jane Maguire and she has arrived with airline Aer Lingus. The lucky one is from the town of Wexford, Southeastern Ireland. She is travelling to Bulgaria with her husband and two of her five children.
To honor the passenger number two million, Burgas airport was decorated in green and white balloons - the colors of the Irish airline. A cake with green clovers was one of the surprises for the tourists. The special guests were welcomed by Ulrich Heppe, Chief Executive Officer of Fraport Twin Star Airport Management AD, Georgi Chipilski - Director of Burgas Airport.
The family was taken from the airport to the resort of Sunny Beach with a red retro Mustang cabriolet. The guests will enjoy a 10-day holiday on the Black Sea Coast. Aer Lingus runs up to six flights a week from Dublin and holds the first position among all airlines flying to Ireland this summer.
Burgas Airport operates flights to more than 146 destinations in 41 countries, by 77 airlines. Around 10% is the share of the low-cost airlines. At present, Burgas Airport enjoys a steady growth of 4% in passenger traffic, mainly due to the growing interest of passengers from the UK, Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic.
