Yet another great practice from the Hague, when it comes to waste management and recycling. Locals can return their old items, such as boards, irons, furniture and washing machines, which can later be used to make new products. Those who turn in their oversized waste at one of the garbage and recycling stations in the Dutch city between 8 and 22 June, will get an apple tree as a gift. The tree can be fitted on a balcony or a terrace. Waste no time, stocks are limited.

The Hague has 3 garbage and recycling stations:

  • Plutostraat 1 (Binckhorst, Laak city district)

  • De Werf 11P (Zichtenburg, Loosduinen city district)

  • Uitenhagestraat 4 (by the Loosduinsekade, Centrum city district)

All of the garbage and recycling stations are open from Monday to Saturday from 8.30 to 17.00 h. There you can also dispose of garden waste which is too big for the organic waste (GFT) container, such as clippings and branches. Garden waste can only be disposed of at the garbage and recycling station at Plutostraat 1.

Oversized waste is rubbish which is too large for a rubbish container, household bin (kliko) or garbage bag or is too heavy for a garbage bag. For further information on how to separate and dispose of waste with large dimensions in the Hague, follow this link.
